Description:

 

 We will be working at Miracles in Motion in Swisher for our Kiwanis One Day Project.  We will do as many things as we can from the list below.

Work Day Projects:

 

For people with concrete, construction experience:

  1. Install cement pad for horse statue on sensory trail
  2. Build stationary buckboard (using donated materials)
  3. Build mounting ramp into outdoor arena

 

For people who need light work or sit down job:

  1. Clean tack
  2. Data entry inventory
  3. Inventory all materials, objects, supplies, equipment

 

For people with good backs:

  1. Clean loafing sheds
  2. Clean loafing areas in pens
  3. Clean hay out of hay loft in barn
  4. Dig trench and install drainage pipe from parking lot to past manure pile
  5. Fix trench behind arena to hill pasture
  6. Clean stalls, neaten and clean barn

 

Tack room project:

  1. Clean out tack room
  2. Paint tack room
  3. reorganize tack room
    1. hang additional saddle racks
    2. redistribute bridle racks
    3. adjust shelving
    4. make and hang blanket racks

 

Winter blanket cleaning, repair and storage:

  1. Wash winter blankets (with hose and scrub brushes)
  2. Mend winter blankets (hand sewing)
  3. Store winter blankets (fold and store clean dry blankets in containers or plastic bags, put in hay loft)

 

For people with plumbing/electrical knowledge

  1. Install one automatic waterer
  2. Fix water fountain in barn
  3. Run electricity from pump to fish pond (15 ft.)
  4. Install ground fault outlet at pond

 

For people with significant construction experience:

  1. Jack up and reinforce porch footing on front of house
  2. Install new exterior doors
  3. Fix floor in entryway of office
  4. Rebuild patio retaining wall
  5. Install rubber bricks in washout areas of trail (if we can get these donated)
  6. Install gaits for compost bins, change gate on NE barn door

 

For people who enjoy yard work:

  1. Mow if needed
  2. Clean out and weed flower beds
  3. Mulch flower beds
  4. Mulch around trees
  5. Plant flower seeds

 

Painting projects:

  1. Repaint indoor arena rails and walls
  2. Paint garage and loafing sheds
  3. Paint brown wood in barn near refrigerator
  4. Paint office and entryway to office

 

Sensory Trail Project:

  1. Install Sensory Trail stations
    1. Move some of the mail boxes
    2. Fix bird station
    3. Build pvc pipe tree and activity boards (we have pictures for plans, need a variety of sizes of pvc pipes.
    4. Build bean bag activity stations (plywood, painted with holes for bags game)
    5. Redo the music station

                                                               i.      Add swing arms for bells & cymbals

                                                             ii.      Fix metalaphone wire

                                                            iii.      Change bamboos so they hang out from posts

Fencing Project:

  1. Tear down wooden fence between hill pasture and sensory trail
    1. Remove nails from boards
    2. Install boards at bottom of west sensory trail fence in areas of washouts
    3. Build planters out of posts
    4. Place and fill planters with compost, plant seeds

 

  1. Install 1000 ft. of horse wire on south end of property

Basement Project

  1. Clean and organize basement
  2. Change furnace filter, clean out dryer and washer
  3. Paint floors and walls

Garage Project:

  1. Clean and organize garage
  2. Recycle office paper, cardboard, cans

For people who like to work on machinery:

  1. Clean and change oil on all machinery
    1. Tractor, mower, weed wackers, snow blower, etc.
