2009 marked the Hi-Crew Kiwanis very First Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast. This event was launched to help our fundraising effort – to establish a strong base to allow us to fund more projects than we currently do.
We pre-sold tickets door to door in Hiawatha; our club’s individual members sold them to friends and colleagues as well. It was a concerted effort that resulted in the sales of approximately 280 tickets prior to the event. The event was held in the new community center in Hiawatha’s impressive City Hall. Great Venue!
We were able to secure business donations from Hy-Vee on Edgewood Rd, the Fareway in Hiawatha, Roasters Coffee House in Hiawatha, Heritage Bank, and Schimberg Company.
Many of our club members made this year’s event a huge success by donating themselves both of their time and money. We were able to purchase a large propane griddle that will support ongoing events such as this.
Next year, we hope to add entertainment for kids and adults alike!
